Mobile welding & on-site repair — Kansas City metro

I'm a mobile welder serving the Kansas City metro (MO and KS). When something steel breaks — a bracket, a frame, a gate, a stair stringer, a piece of structural — I bring an engine-driven rig to wherever it is and weld it there. No hauling it to a shop, no waiting on a shop's schedule.

This is on-site welding repair: stick, flux-core, and MIG for mild steel, indoors or out, on a jobsite, in a yard, or at your house. If it's metal, broken, and bolted or built into something you can't move easily, this is the one.

What it covers

  • Structural steel repair — beams, columns, lintels, mezzanine framing, stair stringers, carports
  • Cracked frames and weldments — equipment frames, trailer crossmembers (see trailer & fleet repair for trailers specifically), shop fixtures
  • Broken brackets, mounts, hangers, tabs, gussets
  • Gate and fence repair — sagging driveway gates, broken hinges, cracked posts, chain-link, ornamental iron
  • Re-welding cracked or failed welds from a previous repair
  • Tack and weld fixes on metal furniture, racking, shelving, light fab
  • Emergency / after-hours repair when something can't wait until Monday {{CHRIS: confirm whether you take after-hours calls}}

Who it's for

Property managers and commercial buildings with steel that's failing; contractors who need a weld on a jobsite today; shop owners with broken racking or fixtures; homeowners with a gate, fence, or fabricated piece that broke. Basically anyone who'd rather I come to the metal than haul the metal to me.

What to send for a quote

Text or upload a few photos showing the break, a wide shot for context, and roughly how big the piece is. Tell me where it is (a city is enough to start) and whether it's accessible — indoor, outdoor, on a roof, in a pit. If it's a simple, visible repair I can usually quote a flat price same day.

What it costs

  • Service call: $225 — covers travel anywhere in the KC metro plus your first hour on-site. Most small repairs are done in that hour.
  • $125/hr after the first hour.
  • Gate / fence repair (hinge, sag, cracked post): $175–$400 — flat-rated when I can see the scope.
  • Structural steel repair (beam, column, lintel): $500–$2,500+ — quoted after a site visit. Crack propagation and rust extent decide it; I won't throw a flat number at structural work sight unseen.
  • After-hours / weekend / emergency: 1.5× rates, $300 minimum.

These are starting points. The exact number comes from photos or a look in person — fab and structural work is always quoted, never guessed. Full price sheet →

Questions

Frequently asked

Do you actually come to me, or do I bring it to you?

I come to you. That's the whole point — engine-driven rig, I roll up to your shop, yard, jobsite, or driveway anywhere in the KC metro and weld it there.

How fast can you get out?

Depends on the day and where you are. For straightforward repairs in the metro I'm usually out within a day or two; emergencies I'll work in as fast as I can. Text me what you've got and I'll tell you straight. {{CHRIS: confirm typical response time + whether emergency/24-7}}

Can you weld it outside, in the rain or wind?

Stick and flux-core handle wind and dirty steel fine — that's why field welders use them. Hard rain I'll tarp it or reschedule; I'm not going to do a junk weld on a structural piece just to beat the weather.

What kind of steel can you weld on-site?

Mild and structural steel, no problem. Aluminum and stainless I do with TIG — that's a separate service. Cast iron I can repair with nickel rod and preheat — ask when you reach out.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes — I stand behind my welds. {{CHRIS: confirm workmanship warranty terms}}
